One agent usually runs across a whole website, but a pricing page, a support page and a careers page call for different openings. A page rule overrides the widget’s settings on the pages it matches; everything it doesn’t override keeps the agent’s normal settings. Configure rules in Widget > Data & Compliance > Page Rules, under Page-Specific Overrides.

Which pages a rule covers

The path is an exact page: /pricing matches /pricing and /pricing/ (and ignores query strings), but not /pricing/teams. Add a rule per page you want to cover, or use a site with no path to cover a whole site, such as a separate help center domain.

What a rule can change

Input variable overrides let one set of instructions behave differently by page. For example, set page_topic to pricing on /pricing and to support on your help site, and write the agent’s instructions around {{page_topic}}.

When several rules match

Every matching rule applies. When two rules set the same thing, the one higher in the list wins, so put specific rules above general ones.
A page rule changes the first message for everyone on that page. To open the chat on its own, or greet visitors from a campaign differently, use proactive engagement triggers, which have their own opening message.
